2018 Float Plan

The winter months are best used working on off-season projects and doing research pertaining to the upcoming sailing season float plan.

Our target is to leave Goderich ON around June 1st and head across Lake Huron to the thumb of Michigan. From there we will continue on Lake Huron around the Michigan mitten, crossing under the Mackinac Bridge and and down the eastern shore of Lake Michigan.

About the time we get to Frankfort MI we will head across the lake to Sturgeon Bay WI cutting through Door County into Green Bay. Our exploration will take us into the northern portion of Green Bay which we have yet to sail. We expect to complete our tour of Lake Michigan just after the 4th of July.

Back to Superior

After Lake Michigan we are going to head back into Lake Superior for one last visit to the beautiful shores of the Canadian side. Most of this is wilderness sailing and our timeline will not only be dictated by the weather but also fuel consumption and the capacity of our holding tank. With over 250 nautical miles between pump-outs, we will push our system to the fullest!

We will head west on Lake Superior as far as Loon Harbour and as far north as Nipigon where we will cross the 49 parallel – one of our goals for the summer! We will meander our way back eastward targeting a return to Goderich after covering an estimated 1700 nautical miles.

    1. Dear Anonymous,
We plan on arriving in Goderich after we complete our Dorset ON housesit on April 23. We have a place rented for a month so we can get familiar with the new systems on the boat and get a new enclosure sewn and installed. Busy Busy!
